History
Taranto enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, softened by the presence of the two seas: hot, dry summers, mild rainy winters, with a long fair-weather season stretching well beyond summer.
What to see
Summer. From June to September temperatures are high, often above 30°C on July and August days, with clear skies and rare rain. The sea breeze makes the evenings pleasant, and the sea stays warm well into October.
Autumn and winter. Autumn is mild and, with winter, the rainiest period. Winter temperatures are gentle, rarely dropping below 5°C, and sunny days are frequent. Frosts are exceptional.
Spring. Temperatures climb quickly: by April you're already enjoying warm, bright days, ideal for visiting the city and the territory. It's the most balanced season of the year.
One element to consider is the wind: the tramontana makes the sea especially crystal-clear, while the scirocco brings hot, humid air from the south.

- In the shoulder seasons dress in layers: temperature swings can be noticeable.
