Camper areas in Taranto and on the Ionian coast

Taranto and the Ionian coast

Camper areas and equipped stops in Taranto and along the Ionian coast: where to stop in freedom, available services and tips for campervan tourism.

History

Campervan tourism is a perfect formula for discovering the Ionian arc: the freedom to move between beaches, villages and ravines, with the comfort of having your home along for the ride.

What to see

Where to stop. Along the Ionian coast — especially around Castellaneta Marina, Marina di Ginosa and the marinas to the south — you'll find equipped stopping areas and campsites welcoming campervans, many set in pine woods and steps from the sea.

Services. The equipped areas generally offer water filling and draining, electric hook-ups and toilets; the campsites add showers, a shop, dining and at times a pool and entertainment.

Tips. In high season booking is wise: seaside sites fill up fast. Always respect the local parking rules: wild camping is generally forbidden, particularly in the protected areas and on the dunes.

The campervan is ideal for combining sea and hinterland, moving between the coast, the Itria Valley and the Ravines Park.
